Slovenian Business Delegation Visits IUS

On Thursday, June 2, 2022 a delegation comprised of 20 Slovenian companies visited the International University of Sarajevo. The visit was organized by the Scientific Research Center Bistra, Ptuj from Slovenia. The guests were welcomed by Associate Professor Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, Assistant Professor Dr. Ismar Alagić and Assistant Professor Dr. Jasmin Šutković.

The head of the delegation from Slovenia, Dr. Štefan Čelan, Bistra Center Director and a lecturer at higher education institutions in Slovenia highlighted the potential to establish scientific, engineering and business cooperation between IUS and Bistra Center in the upcoming period. Associate Professor Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, IUS Vice Rector for International Cooperation and Research, introduced IUS and presented the achievements of the University in the previous academic year. Assistant Professor Dr. Jasmin Šutković welcomed the guests at the IUS Research and Development Center (RDC) where the attendees themselves could see the IUS potential for research and development.

Colleagues from Ptuj presented their developments in the area of Bionics and underlined that they have been running this program for a number of years indicating for a potential of opening the same study program at IUS.

On their second day, Assistant Professor Dr. Ismar Alagić organized business meetings between Slovenian and Bosnian companies in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Sarajevo Canton. Assistant Professor Dr. Ismar Alagić stated that “there is an immense cooperation potential on projects which would be prepared and implemented jointly with our guests from Slovenia. The focal point of our meetings was competitiveness, innovations, digitalization and decarbonization. In the future period, great economic exchange potential between our two countries will be more about products and services made with the help of modern technology and highly skilled workforce.”

Dr Čelan thanked for the hospitality and reminded that it is up to all of us to implement this cooperation between IUS and Slovenian institutions as soon as possible.
