Probiotics and prebiotics are some of the key players in improving the host’s health via modulation of the gut microbiota. However, exposure to antibiotics can result in disrupting the human microbiome, causing several related diseases. Regarding this, the purpose of this study is to examine the effects of prebiotic fibers on the growth of probiotics in the presence of ampicillin and penicillin. This will be done by growing probiotics on LB media containing antibiotics, adding prebiotics to media with probiotics and using a spectrophotometer for potential growth observation and comparison. Prebiotics had a rather positive impact on the growth of the bacterial cultures found in the probiotic dietary supplement.
