“Turn Your Proteins Into Art!” – Hands-On Western Blot Workshop Successfully Conducted
The Hands-On Western Blot Workshop, inspired by the theme “Turn Your Proteins Into Art!”, was successfully held for 4th and 5th year students of the Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE) study program at the Molecular Biology Laboratory, IUS Research and Development Center (RDC).
The response from students was amazing. Due to the large number of applications, the workshop was organized over two days, and we were thrilled to see such strong interest in hands-on laboratory learning.
Throughout the workshop, students were encouraged to take the lead in performing the experiments themselves, from running gels to developing blots. This hands-on approach gave students the chance to build confidence, ask questions, and truly experience what working in a molecular biology lab feels like.
Feedback from the post-workshop survey showed that students really enjoyed the experience and were happy to have the opportunity to gain real, practical lab skills. Many appreciated being actively involved in the experiments rather than just observing, highlighting how much students value engaging, hands-on activities. The workshop also showcased the excellent facilities and learning opportunities available in the RDC GBE laboratories.
To celebrate their participation and hard work, all students were awarded Certificates of Attendance as a keepsake of the experience.
Seeing the enthusiasm and positive feedback has encouraged us to plan more hands-on workshops like this in the future. We look forward to continuing to create exciting learning opportunities that bring science to life for our students!
