IUS Enhances Research Capabilities with TIKA-Donated VC-760 EZ Milling Machine
On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had the distinct honor of hosting President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Mr. Serkan Kayalar, TIKA Coordinator in BiH Mr. Erdinç Işık as well as the Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Sadık Babür Girgin. The gathering celebrated the launch of the newest cutting-edge addition to the IUS Research and Development Center (RDC): the VC-760 EZ Milling Machine, generously donated by TIKA.
The other guests were Commercial Attaché Mr. Atalay Aydoğdu, Financial Attaché Mr. Akif Akşam, and Yunus Emre Institute Deputy Director Mr. Ersin Akbulut, among other esteemed guests. The IUS delegation, including Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Vice-Rector for General Affairs Associate Professor Muhammed Yasir Göz, and Secretary General Mr. İbrahim İnal, warmly welcomed the visitors.
This advanced equipment will significantly enhance the learning experience for engineering students, enabling continuous and uninterrupted production as well as fast, easy, and efficient programming using G-code software. The machine will also provide high-quality training not only for IUS students and staff but also for other stakeholders interested in CNC milling machine training. To date, the IUS Lifelong Learning Center – IUS Life has provided training for more than 500 attendees.
During the visit, the guests were given a comprehensive campus tour, allowing them to experience first-hand the modern infrastructure IUS offers its students. This included a visit to the RDC laboratories designed for students in Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Industrial Engineering (IE) programs. Additionally, they toured the Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) multimedia lab, the Media and Communication (MAC) studio, and other state-of-the-art facilities.
Over the past years, TIKA has made numerous contributions to the IUS RDC equipment, including 3D printers, nano scanners, and CNC milling machines, among others. TIKA remains dedicated to providing sustainable support to various institutions in education, health, restoration, agricultural development, finance, tourism, and industry.
